Shackle-line

A pig suspended on the shackle line about to have their throat slit. In the background is the gas chamber which is used to paralyse the pigs before they are hung up and 'stuck' with a knife. Another pig lies on the ground where they were knocked off the shackle line by a worker. Investigators found that the shackle line frequently became jammed, leading workers to knock pigs off with a hammer and re-hoist them.
