Established in 2020, the Melbourne Animal Rights Centre (MARC) is a communal office and storage space in South Melbourne, where animal rights advocates can work collaboratively, participate in training sessions and workshops, share resources and more. While the COVID-19 pandemic heavily impacted our plans in the first couple of years, MARC has since become an integral component in our efforts to rebuild the Melbourne animal rights community and in our campaigns exposing the systemic cruelty and abuse in Australian farms and slaughterhouses.
Advocates and organisations are able to request free hire of the following equipment and resources:
- Portable PA systems and microphones
- Wearable TVs for outreach
- Portable power stations / batteries
- 1080p projector
- Trestle tables
- Camping-style foldable chairs
- Marquees (3x3m and 6x3m)
- Corflutes, posters, banners and props
- Video and audio recording equipment, including cameras, tripods, microphones, lighting and drones
A variety of fliers, brochures, books, magazines and stickers are also available for outreach and similar activism, along with basic office facilities such as printing, scanning, laminating, stencil-making and lightning-fast FTTB internet.
In addition to trainings and workshops conducted by Farm Transparency Project, the space is available for after-hours use for meetings and other small events with a capacity up to 20 people. Larger meeting rooms are available in the building for paid hourly hire. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
At this stage, MARC is not open to the public. Priority access is given to volunteers and partner organisations of Farm Transparency Project, and other known and trusted animal advocates. Resources are only provided to individuals and organisations who align with our core values.
MARC was established with the generous support of:
