In June 2024, investigators from Farm Transparency Project installed hidden cameras at Cedar Meats, capturing the handling and slaughter of thousands of animals, including newborn lambs and kids born in the holding pens of the slaughterhouse. The footage shows workers writing and drawing on the bodies of sheep and goats with blood, animals appearing to have their throats slit while fully conscious, goats and sheep struggling while soaked in the blood of others and even one mother goat giving birth in the stunning restraint, seconds before her throat is slit.

Our investigation revealed such an exhaustive volume of abuse, illegal and sickening activity that we couldn't put it in just one video.

Over the month of September 2024, we will publish four videos showing the slaughter of each species killed at Cedar Meats. As usual, on releasing each video, we will publish additional footage on our website showing standard practice at the facility and how animals are treated when they believe that no one is watching.

Slaughterhouse #19 is one of our biggest yet. The heartbreaking suffering experienced by the animals whose deaths we captured will haunt us forever. But we are determined to continue to fight in their name.

Stay tuned for the first part of our exposé where we release footage of the brutal slaughter of days-old bobby calves, five years after footage of this practice was previously captured at Cedar Meats by Animal Liberation.

  • Open letter regarding inadequacy and corruption of abattoir regulator

    Thursday 24 Oct 2024

Dear Mr Albanese, I am writing on behalf of Farm Transparency Project, a non-profit animal protection organisation focused on raising public awareness about commercial animal farming and slaughter practices through comprehensive investigations into Australian animal use facilities. Over the past decade, our organisation has investigated a number of facilities and practices, catalysing significant animal welfare reforms. In recent years, this has included: Publishing footage of the foothold trapping and killing of native dingoes in Victoria by government contractors, stimulating debate and likely contributing to the Victorian government ending the practice in parts of the state. Investigating the failed phase-out of... Read more >
