While all of this was happening, instead of looking into it for themselves, Racing NSW and their CEO Peter V'landys were busy pouring resources into suing a media outlet for exposing racehorse slaughter in NSW knackeries last year.

Use our template to send Racing NSW an email letting them know that if they want to cling onto any shred of integrity, they need to ban all of these breeders including billionaire Gerry Harvey, and fund the immediate retirement of any horses bred from those facilities or sold into NSW through Harvey’s Magic Millions.

Dear Peter V'landys and Racing NSW,
I have just viewed <a href="../campaigns/finish-line-part2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">footage published by Farm Transparency Project</a>, detailing an investigation into two NSW knackeries - Kankool Pet Food at Willow Tree, and Highland Pet Food at Guyra - where it was found that horses from your industry are regularly being sent. After arriving at the knackery, these horses are then brutally shot, cut up, and turned into dog food.
At least 10 of these horses in an 8 week period have been sent in clear violation of NSW Racing Rule LR114 - that's an average of more than one rule breach per week. Many were sent to the knackery by facilities or individuals directly affiliated with your industry, including:

<li>Broombee Stud, owned by Gerry Harvey</li>
<li>Tamac Stud Farm, owned by Mark Taylor</li>
<li>Murrulla Stud, owned by Tim Nolan</li>
<li>Sefton Park Thoroughbreds, owned by Colleen Buchanan</li>
<li>Ambergate Stud, owned by Kevin Drew</li>
<li>Binnia Performance Horses, owned by Troy Palmer</li>
<li>Ezy Care Foster Mares, owned by Tim Hunt</li>
</ul>
The footage itself is disgusting - no animal deserves to be treated this way. What I find especially shocking though, is that while this has been happening on a weekly basis, you have made zero effort to stop it, and instead have been focusing your resources on suing journalists for exposing this very issue. This speaks to an utter lack of integrity within your organisation, and a complete lack of care towards the wellbeing of the horses from whom you profit.
If you want to claim any remaining shred of integrity, you will immediately act by permanently banning the above breeders from having any affiliation whatsoever with horse racing in NSW, including Gerry Harvey and his Magic Millions event.
These horses were your responsibility and you have failed them. If you cannot ensure horses are not going to be sent to a knackery or slaughterhouse, you should not be breeding them in the first place.
You can be certain that I will never again be attending or betting on a horse race.
