The cull of 18 million minks in Denmark - 18 millions mink were culled after a covid19 outbreak on Danish mink farms, autumn 2020.
It started when the Danish government ordered the cull on all farms tested positive for Covid and all farms in a 7.8 kilometer radius of an infected farm.
More than 100 farms had been tested positive and at first the number of minks to be gassed because of this decision was 1.5 million, then 2.5 million and it continued to rise until the government decided that all +18 million mink in Denmark should be killed as quickly as possible, tested positive or not.

Denmark was until this happened, the biggest producer of mink furs in the world, more than 18 million mink were bred and killed here every year.
The mink breeders received a historical amount of money from the government and they are now all millionaires, but the industry died out and 'Kopenhagen Fur', the biggest fur auction house in the world also closed down.
Today, only a handful wish to start up the mink industry in Denmark again.
A ban on mink farming in Denmark is still being discussed. - Captured at North Denmark Region.
