Knockbox
Cows and large pigs are herded up a narrow, barred race and into a knockbox. A heavy metal door can be slid across to open or close the knockbox, which is a barred, narrow box where animals are held to be stunned. Workers stand alongside the race and knockbox, first to herd animals into the knockbox using a painful electric prodder, then to use a rifle to shoot them in the head to render them unconscious. They are then tipped into the kill room where their throats are slit. Hidden cameras showed that many animals had to be shot multiple times. They can be heard crying out in pain and seen tossing their heads, jumping up and trying to turn around and run away.
