Bobby calf slaughter - A 2024 investigation showed the slaughter of bobby calves - male dairy calves sold to the slaughterhouse at just five days old because they will never produce milk.

Calves are seen struggling as an electric stunning device is forced into their skull before they are tipped out onto a blood splattered table where their throats are slit. Several calves are seen showing clear signs of consciousness, including blinking and looking around, even as they are hung upside down and moved further into the facility. Our footage shows that calves will continue to struggle on the shackle line, with some shaking free and falling into the blood-filled drain below. Distressingly, some calves survived both the throat cutting and the fall, leading to them continuing to thrash and struggle as they slowly drowned in the blood of those who continued to be killed above them - Captured at Cedar Meats, Brooklyn VIC Australia.
