A sheep attempts to jump from the stunning restraint

Wal's uses an electric stunning device to immobilise sheep and pigs before slitting their throats. A 2023 investigation showed that both sheep and pigs would frantically try and evade the stunner, and would continue to thrash and gasp for minutes after having been electrocuted. The stunning device would frequently be broken, meaning that workers would switch to stunning sheep and pigs using a rifle, causing even more pain, fear and suffering.
