EcoPiggery
Co-owned by David Wright, President of the Victorian Farmers Federation Pig Council, and Colin Sinclair, owner of the notoriously cruel Benalla slaughterhouse. Pigs from this farrow-to-finish farm are sent to the Benalla slaughterhouse to die in an excruciating carbon dioxide gas chamber.
The farm is filthy and dilapidated, with mother pigs (sows) confined to tiny "mating stall" (i.e. sow stall) cages for up to a week at a time, and then for approximately six weeks at a time in farrowing crates. Additionally, investigators found:
- Sows with painful pressure sores and bruises from lying on hard, slatted floors and from their skin rubbing against metal bars
- Floors and food covered in maggots
- Piglets becoming stuck in the slatted flooring, slowly starving to death
- Piglets eating the bodies of dead kittens, who share the sheds with the pigs, and starting to eat their own mother's infected wounds
- ‘Weaner’ and ‘grower’ pigs with painful, debilitating wounds, including abscesses and prolapses, left in filthy pens with dozens of other pigs
- Buckets full of dead and stillborn piglets, many with obvious signs of predation from cats, rats and other animals
Formerly Camlarni Pty Ltd (deregistered 2020).

Pig industry leader accused of cruelty and deception as secret footage released
Tuesday 4 Jun 2024
The piggery of Victorian Farmers Federation Pig Council president David Wright has been targeted by animal advocates who have released new footage showing ‘cruel and sickening’ treatment of pigs on his farm. David Wright gave evidence during the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into pig welfare earlier this year, where he spoke about the high standards he maintains on his farm. Animal advocacy group Farm Transparency Project is now calling out the pig industry leader, publishing footage showing mother sows in narrow cages with painful, infected pressure sores, as well as sows in farrowing crates with over a dozen stillborn piglets.
