A concerned community group has been established in response to the recently announced Development Application (DA), lodged by Michael and Edwina Beveridge of Blantyre Farms for a proposed multi-million dollar piggery in Harden shire on Eulie Road.

The group have launched a 'Say No To Blantyre Farms (Piggery) in Harden' facebook site and are providing the public with an opportunity to lodge submissions and raise concerns in response to the Harden shire DA lodged by Blantyre Farms for a large scale intensive factory farm piggery.

A spokesperson for the group acknowledged the swiftness of the Harden Shire Council in putting the application up on their website as quick as they did.

"We are grateful for council's prompt response to our request in ensuring the DA details have been published on council's website to ensure the community and public have full access, as is required under the Government Information Public Access Act (GIPA)", the spokesperson said.

The group have a number of objections to the practices of the piggery and believe that odour that it will produce is cause for concern.

For anyone wishing to obtain more information and/or those who want to become involved, contact with the 'Say No To Blantyre Farms (Piggery) in Harden' group can be made by calling Lisa J Ryan on 0421 570 699 or via the facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/SayNoToBlantyreFarmsInHarden108958142816434/?ref=hl

The public exhibition period for the proposed piggery concludes at 5pm,Friday 5 February at which submissions need to be lodged with Harden council by that time.
