Dublin Piggery
A small farrow-to-finish piggery in Dublin SA, with farrowing crates and sow stalls showcasing common issues within the Australian pig farming industry: extreme prolonged confinement, injuries and deaths, decaying infrastructure, and surgical mutilation without anaesthetic (cutting pieces out of piglets' ears as a method of identification).
One piglet was found severed in half next to another who had been partially eaten, presumably by other pigs, cats or rats. Cannibalism amongst pigs is also common in pig farms due to the boredom and frustration faced during confinement.
We are referring to this piggery as 'Dublin Piggery' due to its location, as unfortunately we were unable to identify the official property name.
